Ostrakizace je nenásilný způsob, jak (na své vlastní náklady) znevýhodnit jedince s jehož chováním nesouhlasím a tím ho pokud možno přimět, aby své jednání přehodnotil. To platí jak přímo (odepřu službu mladému Vomáčkovi, protože se mi nelíbí, že dělá bordel v parku před mým domem), tak také nepřímo (odepřu službu celé Vomáčkovic famílii dokud mladého nepřimějí k nápravě).
Zákaz diskriminace výše zmíněné možnosti komplikuje a tím v podstatě podporuje jedince s nežádoucím chováním. Je to záměr nebo tradiční nedomyšlenost v konání pachatelů (budeme páchat dobro bez ohledu na to kolika jiným lidem tím ublížíme)?
